Description

Tulumba is a crispy, deep-fried pastry soaked in sweet syrup. It has a crunchy exterior and a soft, syrupy interior, making it a beloved treat in the Balkans.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Oil for frying

For the syrup:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Boil water and butter together, then add flour and stir until a dough forms.
  2. Let it cool, then mix in eggs and baking powder until smooth.
  3. Pipe the dough into hot oil using a star-tip piping bag and fry until golden brown.
  4. Immediately soak in the cooled sugar syrup for a few minutes.
  5. Serve warm or at room temperature.
