Description
Tulumba is a crispy, deep-fried pastry soaked in sweet syrup. It has a crunchy exterior and a soft, syrupy interior, making it a beloved treat in the Balkans.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- ½ tsp baking powder
- Oil for frying
For the syrup:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- ½ tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Boil water and butter together, then add flour and stir until a dough forms.
- Let it cool, then mix in eggs and baking powder until smooth.
- Pipe the dough into hot oil using a star-tip piping bag and fry until golden brown.
- Immediately soak in the cooled sugar syrup for a few minutes.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
