Perfectly seared scallops glazed with rich miso butter, served with nutty sesame asparagus.

Ingredients:

  • 10 large sea scallops
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp white miso paste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

For the Sesame Asparagus:

  • 1 bunch asparagus (trimmed)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Miso Butter: Melt butter and mix with miso, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Sear Scallops: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Season scallops with salt and pepper, then sear for 2 minutes per side until golden.
  3. Glaze: Add miso butter to the pan, spooning it over the scallops as they cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Cook Asparagus: In another pan, heat sesame oil and sauté asparagus for 3-4 minutes. Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. Serve: Plate the scallops with sesame asparagus, drizzling extra miso butter over the top.
